Was given a VERY beat up but cool 90's Hondo P Bass copy

First thing I did was buy it a a nice pick guard. swapped out the pots with some pedal pots laying around.

Next up, bought a Chinese neck off ebay. Canadian Maple and rosewood fretboard. Very heavy, very nice. That's where the Frankenbass comes in. It's a Jazz neck. Now I'm working on the headstock. 1 more coat of lacquer to go.

CTS Pots await the hand wound pickups that shall be posted from Australia this weak. I'll probably use PIO tone cap too. Have a Graphtech Tusq nut here for it as well. The only thing Hondo about it will be the body, and tuning pegs.

I dig it! Reminds me a bit of the P-bass I built a while back using a Squier J-bass neck.

BTW, if you'd consider throwing a JFET-based active preamp in there, lemme know---I have one I'm prototyping and I'd cough up a PCB for you in exchange for some feedback.

That’s a lot of pickups for one bass, I’m intrigued.

Forgive my crappy playing, here's a short clip of the "Modern Vintage" pickup in the Frankenbass
