Does an 8MM high brightness LED consume more power than a 5MM high brightness LED?

I did the led-pulse-in time w/speed mod on a Chicken Salad. I did it with a 5mm LED first and an 8mm LED second.
It seems to sound bit different when the 8MM is in the circuit. Should there be a difference?
