A Craigslist customer (for a pedal I built) asked me if I do any work on amps and sent me this photo of his Crate V50 112. He said he bought it used, played it once, and it quit on him, no sound whatsoever. It sure looks like something got cooked. I'm not really willing to troubleshoot an amp repair, but I have done some amp modification before, and if this looks like an obvious problem that you've encountered before, I'd consider doing the work for him.

WAY too many variables to say anything for sure, Scott; however since that's the power supply I would check the fuse(s) for correct amperage. I suspect someone put in a higher amp fuse because they were having problems blowing the correct ones. The problem (whatever it is) that was blowing the correct fuses just moved down the line and blew up that part of the circuit. Still doesn't solve your problem...even if you replace the blown parts it will likely happen again until you find the culprit. Big job, I think.

I won't work on these.

That's all I have to say about that.

Well, what else would I say??

One of my main jobs is to help people spend their money wisely.

These amps are an unwise choice.

Oh, I'm not disagreeing or challenging your opinion. I just knew you were going to say that!
