I finished a pedal and the bypass works but the effect only works if the cable is halfway in the input jack. I am using stereo enclosed jacks and have tried wiring the out jack both ways but still the same issue. Has anyone come across this, what can cause this to happen?

Are you sure that the jack is wired correctly (tip to signal, sleeve to ground) and that the cable is mono, not stereo? What is the pedal?

It is a chorus pedal and I am pretty sure the jacks are wired correctly. I only have mono instrument cables.Image

The output jack appears to me to be mis-wired. I believe you have the output signal from the footswitch connected to the jack's ring rather than the tip.

The output is the one on the right correct? Should I just switch the wiring?

The right facing down as in the picture.

Correct, the jack on the right when the footswitch is at the bottom. Move the wire coming up from the footswitch from the tab on the right to the one on the bottom. At the same time, I would rotate that jack 90 degrees so that the bevel is on the upper right, the same as the other jack. That will make the tab for the tip much easier to get at.
