Build Your Own Clone Message Board

Hey fellas, I just built a Tone Bender MKI clone with MP40 transistors (35-ish hfe). It's not quite as gainy and sustainy as I had hoped. Is there any easy way to get more gain out of it, like swapping the gain pot or something else like that? Just thought I'd check before I start swapping out transistors.

That's pretty darn low hfe. I'm thinking your problems will be solved with transistors closer to 100 hfe.

^ Exactly. In a three-transistor gain cascade, these low hFE's will have a huge effect.
