Hi!

I found a schematic for a true bypass looper (no LED) in http://beavisaudio.com/projects/looperswitcher/.
For my needs I built one with two loops, so that when off, the signal goes to loop A, and when on, the signal goes to loop B. Theres is no "no loop" option. For this I simply duplicated the circuit of the Beavisaudio schematic. But I have a problem: I couldn't get around grounding the two loops separately. As a result, the pedals I have in one loop will affect the tone of the other loop in a perceptible way. For example, if I have in loop A a non-true-bypass pedal that causes tone suck, that tone suck will occur also on loop B even when only loop B is selected. I suspect the problem is in sharing the ground connection.

Any ideas on how to wire this properly? Thanks.

Sharing a ground doesn't transfer "tone suck" from one pedal to another. If you are indeed experiencing some sort of tone loss, I'd assume you simply wired something incorrectly. If you want further help, we'll need to see pics. They need to clearly show your wiring, which can be difficult to do, so it may require several angles.

Hi.

The circuit is simple so I think these images may be clear enough.

Thank you.

I'm thinking the issue arises because both Returns are connected at the output jack. You might instead use a DPDT toggle switch with the Send side wired as you have shown and the Return side wired to connect the Return of whichever Send side is active.

Yes. I'm not sure where you got this wiring diagram. You need to use a DPDT to isolate the returns. At the very least, you can use a SPDT like you have now, share the sends, but isolate the returns. You can share inputs/sends, but never returns/outputs.

And if you want to get technical about it, this is not a bypass looper even if you use a DPDT. You have no bypass here. It's an A/B box.

I built a version of the last example on this page: A/B Looper, which has a bypass/engage foot switch, an A/B toggle switch, and status LEDs (the page includes much simpler examples as well). If I wanted to use it as a pedal, I'd replace the 4PDT toggle switch with a 4PDT foot switch, but I think my most likely use is going to be auditioning/comparing pedals.

I should mention that using switched stereo jacks is total overkill, but they're what I had left over from another project.
