I did a layout for this quite some time ago, but thought I'd repost it here. I also redrew the schematic because the link to the one I had before is now gone. So I reverse-engineered by my own layout.

Mr. Dragonfly, could you please take a look and see if the schematic looks okay?

The layout is verified, however.

This fuzz rocks. I built mine from FJ's (CJ) layout and absolutely love it! It makes you want to "Drop some D".

Is this available in a Vero format? Since it was by Dragonfly I figured it might be.

I am really going to have to learn to make boards but it scares me for some reason!

Maybe because Acid has something to do with it

I was always afraid of Acid.

Have you tried perfboard yet? Its pretty easy, I think, especially for a guy like you who has built/debugged at least 20 pedals (I think?).

yeah, go to radio shack and get a big perfboard for like 5 bucks or however much it costs, then break the board apart as needed(make a few small things first to get used to it) the stuff is great, takes a little getting used to but thats all in the fun! then eventually youll be able to perf straight from a schem!

Thanks for the vote of confidence and I am working on number 26 tonight!

Not too mention I bought 3 pedals off of 1 guy on ebay for parts for $45 and fixed all 3 which included a Tremulus Lune! I was very happy!
My guitar students are eating these things up like cookies :D I just gave 1 tonight a phase 90. I might have to sell some of these once I am confident with my build. I am confident about my soldering skills (thanks to my Dad) and how to properly bend leads and such but I keep learning new and better things thanks to all of you :)

I will check into perfboard.

Barry

Hi Culturejam,

Your PCB transfer and schematic images are missing at the moment so I took a look at:

http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/album18/FUZZ+PCB/HEAVY+DARLING+VINTAGE+LAYOUT.GIF.html

There seems to be a glaring error - C4 (47nF) is connected from ground to Vol Pot 3. I think it should be from R5/R6/Q2 collector to the pot, or do I need my eyes tested?

Comparing the schematic above and the layout at:

http://www.aronnelson.com/gallery/main.php/v/DRAGONFLY-LAYOUTS_0/album18/FUZZ+PCB/HEAVY+DARLING+VINTAGE+LAYOUT.GIF.html

The PCB has got R6 (470k) going from R5/Q2 collector to the junction at C2/R7 ?????

It's confusing. I labeled it sort of stupid. It was my first PCB layout. Vol 3 actually connects to the pad directly under the "3".

As for the other comments, I really believe the PCB that I did to be correct. I worked from Dragonfly's original schematic, and when I first posted it several months ago, he verified it as being accurate. Also, it sounds awesome, so if it's wrong, then I don't want to be right.

No, you misunderstand - yours looks good.

I tracked down Dragonfly's PCB at Aron Nelson's and it is THAT (sorry for shouting) PCB layout that contains the two errors. He's got the output capacitor (his C4) between the pot and ground and the Q2 feeback resistor (R6) from the collector to the left side - as it were - of the base resistor (R7) instead of the right side. Could you pop across to the site and verify what I think I see !!!! Very unusual for Dragonfly to get it wrong - must be bad acid.

The only reason I mentioned Dragonfly's PCB was that when I first looked at your post, my browser wasn't showing your PCB Transfer or schematic - I thought I'd do a comparison between his PCB board and your layout and rustle up a schematic of my own.

Appologies for the misunderstanding - reading my posts again I should have stated the error was Dragonfly's PCB and not yours - smacked wrist !!

Resurrecting this thread cuz I found an old post on pedalgeeksunited, answered there but think this is interesting here too.
Funky jebus, you asked if this schematic:
Image
Matched your old layout:
Image

It does! Except R3 which is 1K8 on the layout for some strange reason  haha

Care to share the .sch file so I dont need to redraw it in Eagle, pretty please?? With sugar on top

I think this is a great project for my re-entry in Eagle board design.
Done so much vero the last year so I wanna spoil myself with boards from OSHpark (3 pieces) and iteadstudio (10 pieces)

Also, are the madbean librarys still the shizzle and coolest shit around?

Nice,

I've been thinking about this one lately again. Just may order some boards for myself, too.

Thanks a lot Forrest! BTW, is it worth splicing in a fuzz knob on this?
If i recall right this cleans up real good with the git-vol, so Eff it

DC, let me know if you finish a .brd file so we can compare organ-size

It actually does clean up very well. But you could also add a Fuzz/Gain control. I always favor simplicity, but I'm generally in the minority. ;)

It's a great circuit. I wouldn't mess with it too much.

Will do. Probably do it tomorrow night. Having not looked at CJ's yet, I'll probably add 16mm board mounted pots and some of my off-board wiring idiosyncrasies.

Yeah, since its not a production pedal, I didn't take the time to "clean it up". Besides, I hate perfect looking traces. I like the zig-zag.
