I'm trying to source a load of j201 and 2n5457. Does anyone have a large stash they'd be willing to sell? Thanks

If you can't source them, you could always replace those jFETs with their surface mount alternatives. You could still keep the rest of the parts through-hole, if that sort of thing matters to you.

Both 2n5457 (produced by Central Semi) and J201 (produced by Interfet) are available at Mouser. The 2n5457 aren't priced too badly, but you'd have to buy a huge amount of J201 for them to be cost effective.

Surface are a bit awkward, i need to sort them and test them..... but it might be the answer anyway to ensure longevity.

They aren't cheap, but you can actually get sockets for testing and sorting SOT-23 JFets. I do it, so I know it works.

I don't mind sharing at all. This is the one I have, but it's really pricey:

There are much less expensive options out there. You need a SOT-23 socket.

Thank you, you weren't wrong though!!

i found the middle socket bit (still £34) but its cheaper than the £200 of the whole module!

Yeah, that sounds about right.

You don't need the whole module. I really only use it for the socket. I am sure you could rig it up just as easily and save a lot of money.

Yeah, I've ordered the socket and am building a pcb/ maybe vero to connect the connections to my peak meter. Thanks so much for the heads up
