I finished building my Analog Chorus but not Works. Bypass works and the pedal, when on, sounds just like the bypass with no effect. Power light works and flashes in conjunction with the rate knob.

I checked all the solder joints and I checked all resistors, capacitors and polarities on polarized components and it’s all ok. Few resistors have a great variability with deviations up to 50% of their theoretical value. For example, the “151” resistor is well color labeled but it’s real value is 26k by voltimeter. Could that does affect the pedal final sound?

Here are my voltage readings from the ICs:

3007
1 - 8.4
2 - 4.35
3 – 3.62
4 – 0.56
5 - 0
6 - 4.3
7 - 5.75
8 - 5.77

3101
1 - 8.43
2 - 4.30
3 - 0
4 - 4.35
5 – 0.26
6 - 7.4
7 - 2.83
8 – 0.56

TL022
1 – 5.01 to 3.6 (Oscillating)
2 - 4.26
3 - 4.62 to 3.4 (Oscillating)
4 - 0
5 - 4.27
6 - 4.28
7 - 4.60 to 3.8 (Oscillating)
8 - 8.54

4558
1 – 4.48
2 - 4.48
3 - 4.47
4 - 0
5 - 4.48
6 - 4.48
7 - 4.48
8 - 8.61

Thanks for your help!

Did you try dialing in the trim pot? It needs to be dialed in to it’s sweet spot to get the chorus effect.

In most cases you cannot accurately measure a resistor’s value while it is in the circuit. The remaining circuit components in parallel with the resistor will throw off your meter’s reading. To get an accurate reading you will need to unsolder one end of the resistor and then take your measurement.

As long as the color bands are correct and you are reading them correctly the resistor should be fine. In all the years I’ve been working with electronics I have never seen a mislabeled resistor.

Regarding resistors that appear to be out of tolerance (say more than 5% or so from the specified value), if reading them with at least one lead disconnected from the circuit, they should be correct.

Otherwise you could be reading the color code backwards from last digit to first digit, rather than the other way around.

Another possibility could be trying to read the colors in unsuitable light. In particular, LED lights have a limited spectrum and can make colors appear wrong. Natural sunlight is the best, and if your eyes are like mine a small magnifying glass can help too.

Thank you for your quick reply and your help.
I always work using magnifying 2.8X glasses. I have read the color code the resistors that appear to be out of tolerance and the color code are OK.
Yes Stephen, I have dialed the trim pot and in this “sweet spot” the chorus effect sounds with a hard distorsion/gain. Few seconds then, the chorus effect gradually disappears, after, I hear only the Rate clock and finally it sounds like the bypass without distorsion, very clean... Is the pedal possessed?

Thank you for the great photos and voltage readings. Please email BYOC to obtain a replacement chip set.

I received the replacement chipset very quickly. I changed the ICs and the pedal started to work. Case Solved case. Thank you, very very much for your help!.
