For $70, I'm seriously considering picking up one of these GFS paisley Tele bodies. Which do you like better? I won't say which way I'm leaning. You can see the details on the GFS site HERE and HERE.

As a matter of fact, there is, but I think it's butt-ugly--black & gold paisley ( Image ):

I voted blue. I was initially inclined to go with pink - a friend of mine owned an original pink paisley tele in the late 60s - early 70s. But I think the burst looks better on the blue GFS vs. the pink one.

You're right about that black and gold—yuck!

I voted blue. The pink could work, but you'd really have to own it. Not because it's pink, but because it's so pink. You'd have to abandon any pretense of subtlety.

Hands-down BLUE in my opinion. I like Pink Paisley tele's well enough, but they're kind of ubiquitous these days, and this particular rendition looks a bit.. flat in certain pictures on GFS. Whereas the blue looks very beautiful. I've been trying not to pull the trigger on that body all week myself.

The pink one isn't ugly 'cause it's pink, it's ugly 'cause the colors don't match. Black and gold seems too busy, it needs that feathered edge like the others.

I keep looking at that one and thinking "there's gotta be a hardware / pickguard combo that would make this thing look nice somehow", but I'm not really sure that's possible.

+1 The blue is impressive, but the pink is iconic, so love for the pink. ;)

Buy the pink one so you can light it on fire.

we're gonna need a separate poll for the pickguard

Blue Paisley body with:
- Tortoise guard (my pick)
- Clear guard
- White mother-of-pearl guard
- Black guard
- GFS dark tinted translucent with silver flecks
- no guard

I wouldn't consider clear, translucent or no guard, because I don't like the appearance of a Tele with the pickup routing showing. The others are in play, though. And Warmoth has a nice selection....

P.S. The poll supports my original preference--I'm going with the blue. True, the pink color is iconic for a paisley Tele, but I don't care for the execution of the burst around the edges.

Order placed! Actually, I'm buying everything for a Tele build from GFS, with the exception of an Oak Grigsby 4-way blade switch (gotta have that 4th position "both in series" pickup combo!), and the knobs, pots & caps, all of which I have on hand. Going with the following features:

  • The blue paisley body (of course!)
  • XGP neck with rosewood fingerboard
  • White pearloid pickguard
  • 4-way blade switch (as per above)
  • Neovin noiseless "Power Rock" pickup set
  • Wilkinson vintage style tuners
  • 6-saddle vintage style bridge plate

Will post more as the guitar comes together....

Definitely interested to hear more on this; I've been tempted to use their bodies in the past but have been turned off by misalignment and fit and finish issues that others have posted about them.

My GFS order is shipping today. Here are the pieces:

I have a 4-way blade switch coming from an Amazon seller, and the knobs, pots & tone cap are all items I have on hand.

The order may get here on Saturday, since GFS is only about 150 miles due east from me. But Monday is probably more likely....

EDIT: Wrong again! Just got an e-mail from FedEx saying it'll be here TOMORROW (Fri.)! Woohoo, a guitar-building weekend! Image
