Quick question- I'm working on a light-up guitar idea (again) using 12V RGB light strip, and I want to use a 9v battery and charge pump it up to 12v for the lights.

Looking for the smallest, most efficient way to get there and maintain a reasonable battery life. Needs to fit inside a guitar, so small is key. Something like a Road Rage, but cut down to exactly 12V. Did a good amount of searching around, but haven't landed on a perfectly satisfying solution.. any tips, fellas? Thanks!

What about doubling the voltage, then using a 12v regulator to get it down to the correct voltage?

Wasn't sure if there was any way to tax the battery less for better lifespan, is the only concern with that..

I would think that you could make a cut down version of the Road Rage circuit with perfboard and a 12V regulator, eliminating all the stuff that doesn't directly support 12V operation.

 I'd prefer not to dremel into the back of my Thinline Tele quite that much

I may go with the Road Rage / regulator approach though..
