So when they first decided the bones were too masculine to be Earhart did no one consider the possibility they could have been Fred Noonan's remains?
That feels like the logical conclusion to draw with the evidence they had available to them at the time.

Whoever the bones belonged to would have been *far* too short to have been him.

This is all supposition and inference based upon questionable measurements and observations taken almost 80 years ago. There's none of the original "evidence" left and the people involved are all long since dead. To quote Louis B. Mayer, it's "a definite maybe." At best.
