Guys
I think I'm loosing my touch here...
3d pedal in a row with a problem after about 20 without (major) problems :-)

I checked youtube to known how it should sound and i read through some posts, but can't seem to find an answer.

- bypass works
- leds work
- pedal on: dry signal comes through with mix full CW (which is how it should be)
BUT:
- no octave down when MIX is turned CCW (with or without stabilizer - however, with stabilizer there sometimes is a short bassy sound coming after the original note is plucked)
- mix sounds more like a tone control (with CCW less highs, more bass)

- ringer works, but is also present with mix fully CW (i thought this shouldn't be the case?)
- "bass only" works, because it kills the ringer and the mix, BUT off course it's just the normal octave with less highs and more bass

Any ideas?
Tom

That's exactly the same problem I have. Please let me know if you figure out the solution.

Some pics, i hope they are good/in focus enough...
Just tell me if you need more...
And please... if you have any comments tips on the soldering/build, don't hesitate to tell me.

This is a pretty complicated circuit to troubleshoot. But your pedal appears to be mostly working; you have wet signal and everything, but the sub octave is not being generated. The sub octave is generated between points 'A' and 'B' on the schematic.

Symptoms like this are usually caused by a bad solder joint. You should reflow the joints: http://www.byocelectronics.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=52188

I do see quite a few iffy solder joints in there (though most of the joints looks great!). It looks like your soldering iron is maybe not hot enough for the solder you're using or maybe the tip is not clean enough. You want all of your joints to be clean, even, and shiny - not lumpy or uneven or dull.

I've circled a few questionable looking joints but it's best to go back over as many as you can get to. Remove the chips from the sockets before resoldering.

Thank you so much, Morgan!
I printed the back of the PCB and used a marker to see what I had reflowed :-)
Took me about an hour.

And you know what?

It works like a charm !!!

It’s good practice to get into by having a magnifying glass to inspect each solder joint as you go when assembling the PCB. Always make sure the solder pad is completely covered with solder and that the joint is conically shaped from the edge of the solder pad up to the component’s lead. Once you’ve done that clip off the excess lead at the top of the joint without leaving a little pigtail of wire sticking out the top of the solder joint.
