So back in the late 90's, having a rack setup was a dream of mine that I just couldn't come close to affording. Finally starting in about 2001, I was able to start picking up used gear on ebay and build the rig I always wanted. Here's a pic circa 2006 after I condensed it from an 18sp rack with shelves and wireless junk:

It was probably about 2011 when the rack was covered for the last time. And in the corner of the jam space it sat, utilized as a beer shelf, for the past 7 years. Then I find an anvil rack on craigslist for $40 nearby. For some reason I was inspired to revive the rig in a smaller package and get rid of the extra junk (digital effects, tuner, etc). I ripped the Marshalls apart, giving them a full service with tubes, capacitors, pot cleaning, new fans, and whatnot.

I got rid of all the effects junk in the rack and I plan to use my current pedal board with this setup. But what my pedal board lacks is some spring reverb. I called up the folks at Mojotone and ordered one of their Fender stand alone reverb kits in GeekDaddy approved blue sparkle and connected it to the effects loop of the JMP1. Also ditched in this configuration is the midi control. I don't care about 128 presets. Marshall did make a proprietary foot controller for this guy that allows you to select between the first four presets. I built one of those and included it in my custom looper/buffer/controller I/O pedal (to be covered in a separate thread when the graphics are done).

Another thing to note is the awesome work I got from Frontpanelexpress.com on the custom back plate. I added a PWM control and a coupe of 12V 120mm exhaust fans along with the expected I/O ports.

The rack system & reverb are very nice, but it's that black'n'blue Strat that captured my attention! Loves me some Strats....

I made 2 of them back in the day. The other one is a reversed color scheme with EMG 81/85? I think. I still play the blue one, though it's looking a little more tired. Rustoleum only holds up so well.

*edit: Picture reminded me it was an 81 with 2 singles.

Everything was fine until I looked at the top of that photo....

Is that a Strat Plus on the far right? Looks like one with the roller nut and the Lace Sensors. Got me one of those, an '89, though I changed the pickups--of all my guitars, it's the one I've owned the longest:

I bought it as a 96 American on ebay in about 98. The bridge is stock, but I changed the tuners, nut, guard, and pickups over the years. It's got what I guess is the 'C' neck, which I'm not a huge fan of, so I don't play it as much any more. That was my baby back in the day, my first 'expensive' guitar.

What is the Transposed effect? I've never seen it and can't seem to find it on the web.

It's my band name. If you're referring to the rack piece, it's just front I/O so I don't have to plug directly into the JMP and wear the jacks out.

Wow! I really over thought that!

Very nice looking at this one. I had the same Marshall Amp and Preamp rack stuff back in the 80's for a short time along with the 1st EC Strat and a Gibson Standard and I very clearly remember it all sounding fantastic. So many things change over the years so I had not thought about it for a while. Very Nice! I still have my Boston Rig I used to run through it for certain things.

Finally got around to working on the footswitch. Been 'getting around to' making the stickers for about a year now.

It's a Hammond enclosure, but I cut about a quarter inch off the height.

Pedalboard couldn't be nicer, prettier, more efficient.
