Recently finished my own creation - the Judas Priest Drive. I developed the concept for this pedal when GPCB introduced the Plexi Plus years ago, as I knew Judas Priest in the early days (Downing and Tipton) got their sound from a Rangemaster into the Normal (Bass) channel of a Plexi amp. The Plexi Plus is a Plexi Amp emulator using JFET's with both the Normal and Treble channels. I also saw that JP may have also jumped the Normal and Treble channels as well at times, so the Plexi Plus fit the bill for such a pedal build.

I ended up using 6 total PCB's and as well as a small piece of veroboard for power supply filtering in the NPN Rangemaster circuit. PCB's also used include a Tone Tweq for Bass/Mid/Treble controls of the amp emulator and a GBOF for modded NPN Rangemaster. The execution of the build took awhile due to careful layout and planning as it was a somewhat complex wiring adventure.

My next project will be building a Crown Jewel that I purchased a couple of years ago. The Judas Priest pedal build should have prepared me for this. I can thank BYOC for starting me out in the pedal building addiction back around 2006 when I built a ESV Fuzz because it was difficult to find a Ge FF for less than $100 back then. And I almost gave up with this build and pedal building because one of the transistors was bad and it took me a few frustrating days of troubleshooting with help from the board just to find out it was a bad component and not my own incompetence. From there on it was full steam ahead with the JP Drive being the 36th pedal I have built.

The two toggle switches are so the Plexi Plus with ToneTweq mod and the NPN Rangemaster can be use separately or in combination with each other. Switch out the Rangemaster and you have a tweakable Plexi Plus. Switch out the Plexi Plus and you have a modded Rangemaster boost pedal with variable input cap for tone shaping (6.8nF, 17nF, 33nF and 47nF cap selections).
