Oh, you'll still get that as you dial up the gain control. This mod just gives you a little more high end emphasis when using the pedal as a clean boost or very subtle overdrive.
BTW, it's easy enough to try out the mod and see if you prefer it over the stock build. Just get yourself some single in-line sockets (like
THESE) and install them in the eyelets for the three resistors and one cap that are changed for the mod. The component leads fit snugly into the sockets and allow you to try different values without needing to desolder/resolder.
