I am starting the Green Pony pedal and see the instructions mention adding 3 additional resistors and exchanging on capacitor if doing the "FET Mod". I don't see other references to it. Can I get some info on it?

1) What is the FET Mod and what is the impact on the sound/functionality?
2) Is everything included in the Green Pony kit?
3) If I don't do the FET Mod, do I not install the 3 resistors?

To answer your three questions:

1. The FET mod raises the input impedance and imparts more high end "sparkle" to the output, particularly at low gain settings.
2. Yes.
3. You still install resistors in those three positions, but you use the values shown on the PCB silkscreen (10K, 10K, 1M) rather than the three values described on page 7 of the GP instructions (15K, 27K, 3.9M).

Thanks for the quick response! I think I will skip the FET mod, as I would prefer and more overdriven tube sound. Thanks for the help!

Oh, you'll still get that as you dial up the gain control. This mod just gives you a little more high end emphasis when using the pedal as a clean boost or very subtle overdrive.

BTW, it's easy enough to try out the mod and see if you prefer it over the stock build. Just get yourself some single in-line sockets (like THESE) and install them in the eyelets for the three resistors and one cap that are changed for the mod. The component leads fit snugly into the sockets and allow you to try different values without needing to desolder/resolder.
