Well, you're in luck:
http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

Not only Photoshop, but also everything else in Adobe's Creative Suite from that same edition. Sure, now 5 years old, but for most anyone, it's already way beyond what you need. And it's a legit download from Adobe....with usable serial numbers posted next to each package.

For Windows folks, this is just awesome. For Mac, it's the older binaries (PPC), but you can get the X86 binaries installed and running in a virtual machine (I know this from experience) or Wine or maybe CrossOver Office. Linux folks can also benefit here via Wine, CrossOver, etc.

I have personally tested installing Photoshop CS2 and Acrobat Pro 8 on Windows (in a virtual machine). They both work, and both do not "phone home" for serial number verification.

Get it on, bang a gong, get it on.

It's actually not legit (I asked somebody I know from Adobe).

The full story is that they deactivated their activation servers because it is now a legacy product. The download is there for those people who originally purchased it.

Because the activation server is now off, it is unlikely that anything bad will happen to those who install it, but it is technically illegal.

How weird. It seems they don't want to hassle with activation/serials for CS2 but don't want anyone to take advantage of it. Why not just limit access to registered members who already have a license?

I actually own the CS2 Production Bundle---got it cheap when I worked for a University. But, it did not come with Acrobat Pro. Hmmm....

Yeah, I think it was a goof. In the past, they have had the downloads available for legacy software, but the user had to have retained their original software key, which made a lot more sense.

Yeah, technically it's not 100% "legit". But Adobe knows that everybody knows it's there, and they haven't made any attempt to stop the downloads. And the activation servers were shut down long ago.

Saw it on Slashdot yesterday. So by now, there must be millions of downloads.

FYI: It's a 32-bit version that doesn't support the latest Nikon & Canon camera RAW image formats. But if you shoot jpeg or have an older camera it's a fantastic deal.

It's listed on that web page you downloaded from. Just to the right of the download link.

It worked for me about an hour ago. Are you sure you're not using the Mac serial number instead?

I downloaded Illustrator late last night and finished installing when I woke up. I got by with registration and the program seems to be working (just mucked about for a minute, no real use yet). The only strange thing is that while it's open it reverts my windows theme colors back to default, but when I close it my chosen theme settings are restored. :?

iirc that's from the app being a 32-bit and your Win7 themes being Aero 64-bit and they do like it. I think it's a bug (err... umm... I mean, undocumented feature) that causes an "Unsaved Theme" error (check your event log). So you see the desktop theme swap back to Aero 64-bit when the 32-bit VM session your app is running in stops... doesn't hurt anything... it's just a glitch

Did anyone have any luck installing this on a Mac?

I am using the latest OS and I get an error when installing saying the installation failed and the program can't be installed.

I didn't try it on Mac, as I already have CS4 installed.

Guess I will be torrenting then.

CJ do you use Little Snitch for torrented programs?
