Can anyone tell me which sized nut drivers I should invest in for the different sized nuts used on pedals? Jacks/potentiometer/switch/power jack

thanks!

Rocket Socket makes plastic ones, which I know you don't want, but here's the sizing they include in their set:

7mm - For sub-miniature toggle switches
8mm - For miniature toggle switches
10mm - For most potentiometers
11mm - For some enclosed and barrel nut 6.35mm (1/4") jacks (Neutrik)
12mm - For some enclosed style 6.35mm (1/4") jacks
1/2" - For most open frame style 6.35mm (1/4") jacks (REAN, Switchcraft)
14mm - For 3PDT switches and DC jacks
15mm - For some footswitches and DC jacks

Thank you!

while i have you here, mind if I ask you how to troubleshoot a pedal where the lights are on, but when I turn the effect on, I get no sound? I've built around 15 of these, I've never screwed one up yet, so troubleshooting is kind of new to me. I cannot physically see any wiring issues with the IN or OUT jack. The switch looks wired correctly as well. Is it possible I may have burnt out a 47p capacitor with my iron? also- I broke a metal film resistor, and I replaced it with a Carbon film resistor with the same value (all i had laying around), could that be the issue?

forgive me if it's not appropriate to get into troubleshooting in this section of the message board.

No problem to throw some general advice into this thread, but if this doesn't solve it, please start a new thread in the support forum, and make sure to include photos.

The vast majority of the time, if you have bypass signal and the LED comes on when you actuate the switch but you get no sound, there's a bad solder joint somewhere. It's highly unlikely you burned a cap, and the carbon film resistor is fine. Try reflowing all your solder joints. This post has lots of details about that.

It's also possible it's a significantly misplaced component in the signal path. If you've built 15 pedals successfully, I'd say this is more likely to be the case for you than for the average builder, but my money is still on the bad solder joint, which is something that happens to all of us, even hundreds of pedals in.

Good luck!

buy a spanner wrench. they are very useful to keep around for both pedal, and guitars.....and amps.

sjaustin-

I built pedals successfully, but i'm by no means an expert. Maybe just good luck. I just follow the diagrams, cannot read schematics. So I bet it's a bad solder joint too. I was also thinking it could be a bad switch, but when i troubelshot that problem on a different pedal, the signal was in and out. Not completely silent. Thanks for your input and advice. I do appreciate it!
