Hey guys,
This is my first pedal attempt, and unsurprisingly something isn't working as hoped. Hopefully someone can help spot something!
Basically I got everything soldered in with no issue, plugged it in, and can get bypassed audio when the pedal isn't on. The volume pot adjusts the volume when it is bypassed. When the foot switch is activated, the LED turns on but all audio stops. This is with power coming from the 9V battery, or the outlet. In my photos I unsoldered the AC jack to get a clearer image, but can easily reattach and upload photos of it like that if need be. Thanks for your help, let me know if there's anything else I can do to make it clearer. Thanks!
Tyler

You came to the right place!

I would start off by re-soldering all of your joints. You definitely want to look at making sure your foot switch isn’t shorting somewhere. Some of the wires look awfully close and if they end up touching they will short. Does the led come on? Having a picture with the power jack connected would be helpful if there is a wiring issue there.

I’m sure some of the seasoned pros will have additional suggestions.

This shouldn't happen--the circuitry on the PCB (including the volume pot) should be physically disconnected from the signal path when the footswitch is in the bypassed mode. Check to make sure that there isn't any contact between lugs 7 and 8 on the footswitch or between the solder joints of eyelets 7 & 8 on either side of the PCB.

Do you have access to a multimeter and know how to use one?

Yeah I just cleaned up the foot switch wiring and the volume is no longer affecting the bypassed signal. Still silent when activated though.
I do have a multimeter, still pretty new with it but I get the general deal with it. What would make sense for me to test?

So I actually figured it out, I desoldered and resoldered the capacitors and it’s working great now!
