I have to say, I'm absolutely gutted this has happened. I've been building their pedals for 10+ years now. I've built 20+ pedals easily. I turned into an addict. Almost every pedal on my board is BYOC. Building their pedals got me through the Covid lockdown.

I'm hoping these forums stay open though. There is so much great info here.

Best of luck to Keith in his future endeavors!

Cheers!

Same, I've built 20+ pedals and an amp. I will definitely miss all of this. Was there an official announcement? I wasn't able to find one.

Yessir, there sure was. Some people got an email and either Keith or someone else posted it here.

I am at a loss!!! So many of my builds and projects are multi FX and BYOC Lil pcb's were my Go-To! The site is down too? Can't order what's left in stock? My old saved link to the store actually brings me here to the forum now.

BYOC's in-house stock is long-since gone. You might have some luck going to their Canadian distributor, Axeandyoushallreceive.com: https://www.axeandyoushallreceive.com/brands/byoc-kits

Yes, the BYOC retail site is shut down, and the URL brings you to this forum now.

a few places still have some stock, as well as Reverb & ebay. Try Axeandyoushallreceive. I've ordered from them recently.

I had heard a rumor about BYOC shutting down, but refused to accept it at the time. Now that I see that it is true, I must say I am absolutely heartbroken.

I think I built my first BYOC kit in 2014. I have a germanium boost on my desk right now dated 8-6-14. I think this was my second pedal. The first was the OD-1, which I also still have around here somewhere. I started building pedals when I was in a band that required me to have a boost for solos. Everyone recommended things that were crazy expensive and I didn't like the idea of spending money on something that wasn't guaranteed right for me. A friend suggested that, with my electronics experience, I should build a pedal. That is when I found BYOC. I could build them for a reasonable price and enjoy the activity. If the tone or effect wasn't for me, I still had fun building and learning, and I could move on to the next one.

I don't know how many I have built. I definitely have tried to build every fuzz and overdrive I could get, some multiple times because I also like giving pedals away to friends and telling them how much a vintage one would cost them. I especially love building Klones for people. I have become known in my music community as the guy that builds pedals and will fix your stuff for free, which is one of my better reputations.

My entire pedal board is BYOC. I just finished recording my second record with all BYOC effects (out early next year...?) BYOC has shaped my tone. By having so many options that were easy to build with quality components, I was free to explore.

BYOC definitely kept me occupied through lock down times. I was still working, but there wasn't much else going on. That was when my collection really took off.

In short, Build Your Own Clone has meant a lot to me and I sincerely appreciate Keith and the BYOC team for all they have contributed to my music and life by extension. I'm sad to see it shut down.

Cheers!

you can still pick-up some leftover inventory from a few places online, but it goes fast

Thanks to Gutch220 for tipping me off about Moody Sounds in Sweden. I got shut out of my order here for the 5-Knob Compressor when things closed down and had been searching the world over for a kit. Moody had one and sent it over, took about 10 days using normal post. They still have a decent stock of BYOC kits.

One last build.... "for old times sake".

Thanks again Gutch!

Yea, there are only three places/shops that still have stock. The place in Canada (Axe and you shall receive), Sweden Moodys), and a place in Japan. Also, random kits being sold online. But there are also parts lists to make your own by either finding/making a PCB/enclosure, or using a tagboard, etc. There are also many other companies that make kits if you want. But at least you got the one you exactly wanted.

Is anyone else still waiting on an order? My order from Sept. 16th never got cancelled, but no one has answered my e-mails (just 4 over the last few months) wondering if it's still being processed. I'm fine waiting really, but starting to wonder if I'll ever see the order or even get a refund if not.

Sounds like your order fell between the cracks while BYOC was shutting down. I'll bring your situation to Keith's attention.

the company went out of business so there are no more orders. Hopefully somebody sees this and gives you a refund. You can still buy kits in some paces (like Axe and You Shall Receive). I've recently bought one from them, but supply won't last forever and you'll need to look for other kit companies, of which there are many. What pedal were you trying to get?
